This unit plan includes a labor and immigration timeline activity, reflection questions for the short film (40 min) "Viva La Causa", farm worker labor law analysis of three different states, and a final unit choice board project. At the end of the unit, students should come away with the understanding that many of our current labor injustices for farmworkers connect back to slavery and historic and present-day immigration laws.

8 short stories/ personal essays about how teens and young adults experience immigration. Each is based on a true story and I can't wait to read texts with students that I think will help them understand themselves better! I plan to have my Heritage classes and Advanced Spanish classes read each of the 8 personal essays in small groups and rotate through the texts. I think they will relate to many of the ideas and that it will be refreshing for them to read stories that they can relate to.
