This is a practice worksheet that requires students to analyze a pair of figures graphed on a coordinate plane and determine a sequence of transformations that would prove the two figures are similar.
How to use this in your classroom:
-The worksheet is saved as a PDF file.
-It is intended for pr

A few things about this assignment:
1. This exploration was created to help your students practice and explore sequences of transformations. Ideally, this assignment is used after students have been introduced to the effects of translations, rotations and reflections on a pre-image.

This is a review for students who are practicing sequence of transformations.
It includes all translations (given the rule and given the words), reflections over y axis, x axis, and y = x, and all rotations.
Students are given starting locations and told the transformations to make in order to loc

Students will draw a "pre-image" that will undergo a sequence of transformations that will produce a congruent "image". This help the students understand that the basic rigid motions (reflections, rotations, and translations) will create a congruent image of the preimage. This is a great assignment

These cards contain 8 constructed sequences of transformations with 8 descriptions. The cards should be cut out and glued to thick paper/cardstock or laminated. The directions give 4 suggested ways to play.

As our EOC format changes from multiple choice to computer-based and performance-based testing, our assessments must change as well.
This rigorous quiz bundle contains 4 quiz versions and assesses student ability to analyze sequences of transformations.

I use this tool when I first introduce sequences to my 8th graders. I use it as an extension piece to challenge my students, as well as an introduction piece to sequencing with transformations. In this activity, students will plot the pre-image and perform two transformations on the pre-image to get

This is a self-directed project where students perform a sequence of transformations on a shape they create. The steps are clear as are the analysis questions, so students can assess their sequence.

This 2 page assignment includes a total of 8 practice problems: 4 problems where students perform a sequence of transformations (including dilation), and then 4 problems where students describe a sequence that has occurred. These problems are PARCC/common-core aligned and give students several at-ba

This worksheet allows students to practice sequence of transformations on congruent figures in the coordinate plane algebraically. Prime notation is used to identify the image as opposed to the pre-image. An answer key is included.

This is a accumulation of the common core 8th grade geometry unit on transformations. The students are asked to identify the two transformations that were performed on a coordinate plane during a gallery walk around the classroom.
