Before explaining the relationships between historical, scientific and technical texts, I always ensure that students know how to identify the different types of text. By doing this, I have created task cards that describe each type of text and then have students use the Kagan structure of Quiz-Quiz-Trade in order to quiz one another on the different types of informational text.
