Go Team! A Differentiated -EA Vowel Team Game for Small Groups by Learning Moore in First is a motivating and fun way for students to practice their fluency and phonics skills.
Two sets of cards are included, one for on-level/ below level learners (blue cards) and the other is for more advanced readers (red cards).
To play, shuffle and stack the cards where all players can reach.
Each player takes a turn flipping over a card and reading the word. If they can read the word they “win” the card and keep it in front of them. If the student can’t read the word the card goes back in the bottom of the draw pile stack.
If you would like to make the game more challenging you could have students read the word and use it in a sentence in order to keep it.
If a student flips a “Touchdown” card they get that card plus they get to flip another and read that word as well.
If a student flips a “Penalty” card they have to put all of the cards they won back at the bottom of the draw pile.
The game ends when draw card pile is gone. The player with the most cards in his or her stack is the winner.
