Introducing or reviewing -ER verbs? Have a student who is still struggling with -ER verbs? Check out this great inductive grammar activity! You can use this as a lesson or an individual student activity - it makes a great sub plan!
Introduce the idea of inductive grammar lessons - remind them that they do this in science when they make observations. Have students work with a partner or a small group and make an observation about what they see in the examples. Come back together as a class and discuss their findings. Then, have them go back to their groups and apply the rule(s) that they created. Correct as a class and go over any questions. Finally, have students make observations on how to make sentences with -er verbs negative.
Students can complete this individually, with a partner or in a small group. The directions on the sheet are very easy to understand, so it is very self-directed.
