Emergent Chinese readers are 8 page books that provide children an opportunity to learn vocabulary in Chinese. Each page only has a few characters. Once children can successfully identify the picture, they are ready to graduate to little Chinese readers. Emergent Chinese readers provide children the opportunity to practice concepts of print. They learn about the cover page. They learn the direction of print. They learn to match characters to pictures.
The little readers can be used while working with the entire class, in small groups, or one-on-one with individual children. They can also be assigned as homework for additional practice to reinforce Chinese vocabulary learned in the classroom. They can also be used in class during independent reading practice or in a learning center. Illustrations are black and white so they can be colored by students.
This emergent reader focuses on animals in the ocean. It comes in traditional and simplified characters. It includes a template to create a class book.
