Description

This is a set of phonics/spelling worksheets that focuses on the spelling pattern for -adge, -edge, and -idge. -adge, -edge and -idge has a consonant and consonant blend in front of it. Sections include: blending (writing) the beginning, middle, final sounds; writing rainbow words; draw a picture of select words; putting the words in alphabetical order; waterfall word building; writing the definitions, synonyms and antonyms of select words; fill-in the blanks; writing sentences using these words; letter substitution; identify by highlighting correctly spelled words; and a word search.

Students will also have the opportunity to practice reading one syllable words fluently.

These worksheets can be given for additional phonics practice that coincide with the presentation of the -adge, -edge, and -idge spelling chunk within the ELA textbooks. Can be used for a whole class activity or in a small group. Other times to incorporate these activities is as morning work, center/station activities, homework, and assessment.
