Description

This is a word sort for words with the -ed ending and the 3 different sounds they make (/d/, /t/, /ed/). Each past tense verb word is on an alien robot. Students then send the alien back to his planet (d, t, or ed) which are also included.

Encourage students to ask themselves, "Is that a word?" (meaning cue) and "Does that make sense?" (structure cue).

This is a great way for students to practice the 3 different sounds the -ed ending makes! Can be used in small groups, guided reading, literacy work stations, and/or individually.
