This is a matching activity for use as a warm-up or review of TEK A1D for the Algebra 1 STAAR test. You could have your students work on this individually or in partners (includes answer key).
Simply print and cut out. Have 1st period bag them in cheap plastic sandwich bags so they're ready to go for the next class. Some teachers use mailing envelopes. Allowing students to work in partners, not only promotes peer tutoring, but also means you only needs half as many sets to photocopy.
This activity will help your students score better in Reporting Category 1: Functional Relationships (TEK A1D). Specifically, take a look at the STAAR released questions 8 & 25 from 2013 and question 28 from 2014.
More students will be engaged when you make a practice/review more fun and so there will be more learning going on and fewer classroom discipline issues as well. win-win for the Teachers :)
note- part of TEK A1D involves reading graph inequalities. I will need to create a separate activity for those types of questions.
I have been working in education for nearly 20 years. Much of that time has been spent working with at-risk students and learners in need of intervention in order to succeed on the state test.
Good luck to you and your students this year!
