This is a great game to practice Place Value. On a scrap piece of paper, students draw 3 lines and a trashcan (similar to what the students see on the Smartboard). The teacher rolls the die on the Smartboard and the students try to make the highest number they can with each roll, trying to beat the teacher. Once a number is in place, it can not be moved. The die is rolled 4 times, 1 number is put into the trashcan. In the end, if the students number is larger than the teacher's, he/she wins. If the number is equal to the teacher's number, both the teacher and student get a point. This game can be played for any amount of time. You can play to see who gets 10 points first, or any other number chosen by the teacher.
