What better way for students to learn than to actually do the research themselves? I start my Video Productions class every year with an introductory PowerPoint assignment that will give the students a brief overview of what exactly video productions is. Students can complete these assignments in groups or individually. With the instructions provided, students create PowerPoint presentations that will ultimately teach introductory video productions topics. The assignments are carefully constructed and easily guide the students through creating a thorough presentation on their assigned subject matter.
Generally, I will have six groups in class. I've created three assignments, so each assignment will be done by two groups. This ensures that the information I want covered is actually covered. Then, on presentation day, students get a form to take notes during the other groups' presentations. There is also a section for constructive criticism. That same form also has a list of vocabulary they are responsible for at the end of this unit. You can create a short quiz with this information if that works for your class. Included in this package:
1. History of Video PPT Assignment Description
2. Video Communication PPT Assignment Description
3. Video Production PPT Assignment Description
4. Note-taking chart/graphic organizer for students to fill in while watching group presentations- includes a section with important vocabulary to define
You will get two copies of each activity, one editable word document and a PDF. I've also included the special fonts I used.
