Included are 3 pages of a word document with a full script of how to get your students started on a 1 minute mindfulness technique I call "A Moment to Ourselves." Download to see all 3 pages.
Suggested time to practice:
*I personally do this when students are finishing up doing their bellringer. I wait to review the bellringer answers and do a “Moment to Ourselves” first. This helps set the tone for our 100 minute class period.
*When a student is starting to test my class rules, I tell them to put their head on their desk and have "A Moment to Themselves." This is an attempt for them to reset and a more age appropriate time out for middle school children.
*Students calm their minds from worries that are going on outside the classroom walls.
*Students' feelings become validated.
*Students understand that they are safe and loved.
*Students have a chance to become personable with one another and shake each other’s hands to set a friendly calm tone for the class period.
*Build students' attention spans by clearing the mind and focusing on one thought at a time.
*Teaches students emotional regulation.
