Looking for a great way for students to build number sense and practice numbers in adding ten more (+10) and ten less (-10)? This interactive PowerPoint Hidden Mystery Picture is a great activity for building number sense and working within numbers to 120. I have used it with both first and second graders. They love watching the screen to see what color crayon to use. Each slide reveals the color as well as the addition or subtraction problem. Students will shade the square on their hundreds chart. The slides in this activity will advance automatically after the first few slides. This is a beautiful thing as it frees you up! Who doesn’t need a few extra minutes?
This activity works great as the whole class working on the activity or students can use it in small groups or in a math center. Just display the PowerPoint on a device and students can work through the picture. Once they have solved all of the slides, the mystery picture is revealed. A hundreds board with numbers to 120 is included. Please see the preview.
