Many literature circles use the concepts of jobs, such as artist and summarizer, in order to create discussions. While this is a fantastic way to introduce the students to the concept of preparing their work for small group literature discussions, I have found that it is important to have variety in the way literature group activities are prepared and created.
This is why I have created these shared job sheets. In this activity, students prepare the same questions for discussion. This helps students to be prepared for discussions with their own opinions on a particular question.
Each sheet has a major literature element as a topic focus, such as character or setting, with vocabulary appearing on each sheet. The focus of each literature activity will often be accompanied by a mini-lesson on the topic. While each sheet has a focus, some questions on following worksheets will repeat these literature elements in order to continue reinforcing topics that have already been taught.
