Some of the commonly-misunderstood laws in Special Education are those regarding out-of-placement days. This is a great handout on the "10 day rule." It defines the rule, gives examples of out-of-placement days and lists what counts as out-of-placement for students receiving Special Education services, and cites both federal law and case studies on out-of-placement days. It's a great handout to print front-and-back and give to teachers and administrators. Additionally, there is a printable tracking sheet to track Out of Placement (or OOPs) days.
