"How to Help Your Students “Talk the Talk” and “Walk the Walk”: Combining Knowledge, Motivation, and Behavior for a Healthy Life!"


I’ve created a free resource to help you teach your students how to:

1) TALK THE TALK: Learn how to be healthy (Get the knowledge.)

2) TALK THE WALK: Be encouraged and talk the walk (Get Motivated!)

3) WALK THE WALK: (Take the first steps and do it!)


I was so excited to be asked to write a blog for TPT and I thought right away that I wanted to give teachers a resource that would help them share healthy activities with their students.

So, I put together 10 FREE Health activities to help you teach and motivate your students to be healthy!

There are 5 free “Health Task Cards” for 3rd–5th graders, and 5 free Healthy activities for 6th-12th graders.

These meet the “National Health Standards,” and “Learning Targets” are included!


It’s easy- NO PREP! The PowerPoints will walk you through the lessons. Here’s a summary:


Here is what is included:

Mental Health: “Life is 10% what happens and 90% how I react to it...we are in charge of our attitudes.” -Chuck Swindoll

• 3rd-5th graders will learn how to relieve stress with “Time Out,” “Work Out,” and “Reach Out.” They will create “Put a Lid on Stress” suitcases!

• 6th-12th graders will follow a PowerPoint lesson on “The Power of Positive Self-Talk.”


Emotional Health: “Nothing is impossible. The word itself says I’m possible.” –Audrey Hepburn

• 3rd-5th graders will create “Anger Cartoons” to practice staying calm in the heat of the moment. An”Emotional Health Worksheet” is also included.

• 6th-12th graders will learn the difference between being “assertive” or “aggressive.” There is an optional follow-up poster project.


Social Health: “Friends are the family we choose for ourselves.”

• 3rd-5th graders will choose 8 traits of being a good friend and make “Friendship Wheels.”

• 6th-12th graders will complete a “Say ‘No’ Peer Pressure” activity” where they will practice saying “No” in various situations.


Spiritual Health: “A healthy outside starts from the inside.” –Robert Urich

• 3rd-5th graders will practice being empathetic in a number of real-life scenarios.

• 6th-12th graders will take a “Values Survey” and be challenged in a follow-up lesson to live by your values. A “Values Parent-Teen Communicator” homework is also included.


Physical Health: “Most people have no idea how good their body is designed to feel!” –Kevin Trudeau

• 3rd-5th graders will learn which foods give us energy, and then they’ll create an “Interactive Carbohydrate/Protein/Good Fats Tennis Shoe!”

• 6th-12th graders will be shocked to find out how many miles they’ll need to walk or jog to burn the off calories of specific foods!!
