Increase higher-order thinking in your Personal Finance course by having students apply, analyze, and evaluate information. This EDITABLE Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation contains 10 scenarios that make great classroom discussion. Topics covered include: investment philosophy, investment strategies, rule of 72, bonds, stocks, mutual funds, day trading, speculative investments, and liquidity.
In my classroom I have individual marker boards so I like to have each student answer the question on their own board while I walk around to gauge student understanding. We then discuss each question together with possible responses. You could also do this activity purely as a discussion or have students record the answers on notebook paper for you to collect. Suggested answers are provided on the slide and appear as an animation after you have had time to discuss possible answers as a class.
