Peer editing of student compositions can be a powerful and time-saving learning activity. This rubric is intended to be used by groups of two to four partners as they analyze and evaluate each other's writing for focus, organization, purpose/support/ mechanics on a ten-point scale. Students could highlight those statements on the rubric that best describes the piece of writing that is being read aloud, or use it to evaluate their own writing. The rubric is written in mature yet student friendly language that will appeal to older middle and high school students.
This rubric is based on the Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) and Common Core writing assessment that scores 4 pts for focus/organization/purpose, 4 pts for support, and 2 pts for echanics. The rubric is in .pdf format.
