Rainforest 10 More 10 Less Math Game
First Grade Standard 1.NBT.5
I recommend playing a few times with your students in a small group, then placing it at a math center for 2-4 students to play.
To play the game the first player picks a card and answers the problem. If correct, roll one die and move that number of spaces. If wrong, stay where your are on the board. Then it is the next player’s turn. The first player to reach the end wins.
One rainforest game board
One 120 chart
Variations of this game:
You can have students read the number on the cards only. If they get it correct, they can roll the die and move their marker that number of spaces on the game board.
You can play with just the cards only. Put the cards into a pile, have a student draw a card, and if they can tell you what is ten more or less of the number, they keep the card. If they cannot, they put the card back under the pile of cards. The player with the most cards at the end wins.
