This journal includes 100 creative prompts to get students to practice and enjoy all styles of writing. There are 25 narrative prompts, 15 descriptive prompts, 30 various expository prompts, and 30 persuasive prompts. The journal is formatted to be able to use in order throughout the year. It begins with narrative and descriptive prompts and then adds the expository and persuasive prompts.
These make great bell-ringers or can be used as complete multi-paragraph essays. Each page is labeled so that the students know if they are writing a descriptive, narrative, expository, or persuasive piece. There is also a page in the beginning that explains what each kind of essay should have.
These journal prompts are good for middle to upper grades. I have used them in my middle school classes and have gotten great feedback from my students. They love writing journals in class because the topics are fun and thought provoking.
