A fun and engaging activity using pattern blocks to help students develop their math and ELA skills. Can easily be used any time of the year, but I found this a fun center activity for 100th day of school.
Students can do this independently, with small groups, as a math center, etc. They will have hands-on practice creating a design using 100 pattern blocks then required to identify the shapes used and the attributes of the shapes. Students are further required to come up with adjectives to define their design and then compare/contrast with another design.
You can print the instruction page for each student/group OR I like to project this page on my interactive whiteboard for the whole class to refer to during this activity.
Meets 2.G.A.1 and 2.L.2.1.E common core standards.
