100th Day of School Math STEM Challenge
In honor of the 100th day of school the Mayor of Number City would like a math museum to be built. Each company (group) has been tasked to build a freestanding tower using 100 different colored plastic cups AND must follow the guidelines, or else their tower is disqualified.
The goal is to create the highest possible freestanding tower with 100 plastic cups.
Students will work together in cooperative groups to design and build a tower made of 100 cups. They will be using their knowledge of the relationship between fraction and decimals to determine different representations of the amount of cups used within their tower. Students will also be comparing and ordering the decimals and fractions that are represented in their own tower.
This is a hands down favorite in my class!
I have included both color and b/w versions, as well as, examples of towers that were built in my class!
