This multiple choice test assesses student knowledge of the 100 Most Common SAT Words. It includes forty questions and uses each of the 100 words at least once- either in the question or the answer. Answer key is included.
This assessment tests both student knowledge of the vocabulary and their ability to use context clues to make inferences about word meanings. The test includes a variety of questions: matching the word to its definition, words in context, matching words to their synonyms, completing the sentence, and matching words to their antonyms. The test questions vary in difficulty level.
I suggest teachers use this test with a scantron for easy grading. I used this as a preassessment at the beginning of English 10. This test is also suitable for English 9, English 11, English 12, and AVID classes. It is well suited for honors, gifted and talented, and advanced placement.
