100 Words Every High School Graduate Should Know (Complete Words 81-90) TEST and KEY
I have used the "100 Words" titles in my classroom for several years with much success for so many reasons:
1. the actual book, available from Houghton Mifflin, is sold as both a paper copy and an electronic copy, each at well under $10, making it an ideal resource for students. The assignment is also completely accessible to students who don't purchase the book itself, since the words can be found in any paper or online dictionary.
2. these real-life words appear in everyday communications; in addition, many students have reported to me that they've seen the words on the PSAT and the SAT. It does a teacher's heart good when a student says, "I knew the answer to that because we had that word in this class!"
3. having your own set of vocabulary lessons makes it easier for you in a time when schools are cutting back on book purchases and paper resources. You can take this with you anywhere, to any school, and if you switch grade levels, the words are still applicable to students in grades 9 - 12.
This NINTH unit contains:
1. TEST #9. 25 questions, which include 10 spelling, 5 definition, 5 word-in-context sentences, and 5 review words from previous weeks to keep words fresh in students' minds
2. An ANSWER KEY
This is for the ninth set of 10 words in the book (soliloquy through totalitarian). The first unit is available as a free download in my store, and the other units of 10 words each are available in my store. By the end of the 10th unit, students will have a firm working knowledge of 100 words.
