Reasons Why This Escape Room Will Work Best For Your Classroom:
I believe this escape room can be used in multiple grades because of the possibilities for different leveled challenges.
I created this escape room in order to engage my grade 3's in 100's Day. I wanted to be able to encourage students to use their problem solving and critical thinking skills to complete each challenge.
This escape room is a flexible document that can be catered to your class' needs. This booklet guides you on how to organize your escape room to create a few individualized challenges that will incorporate what you are working on in language and math through writing and word problems. This escape room keeps all students engaged and allows for allows opportunities for students of all abilities to participate.
In this package you will receive:
1. Teacher's Guide
2. Rules of the Escape Room
3. 6 Challenges: Base 10 Bonanza, 100 Matching, 100 Day Poem, 100’s Workout, Word Obstacle, and 100 cm Challenge.
4. Clues and Blank clue cards
5. Letters for final word scramble
100 Day Poem, and Work Obstacle are challenges that you can choose to use the activities provided or use your own, such as writing a specific type of poem, or solving a word problem based off what you are working on in math.
100 cm Challenge is a building challenge which allows students to use their creativity and problem solving skills to be successful.
Once a group completes a challenge they are given a new letter- I let them pull them out of their envelope without looking. Once they have all the letters they can create the final word and ESCAPE!
If students get stuck on certain challenges, I have provided clues as well as blank clue cards where you can create clues that will help students get closer to the answer - but NOT give them the answer.
My grade 2/3's LOVED the escape room activities and could not wait to do it again!
We did this activity over a 2 hour time span during the day.
