I love using Everyday Counts calendar math in my 4th grade classroom. However, wall space is at a premium, so I need a more compact way to display the Counting Tape. I created this chart as an alternative way to record the factor and multiple ideas that are taught during this part of the program. I enlarge this document to poster size and we record the information on the poster each day. The great thing is that the kids also have a small copy of this chart in their math journal and can refer to it when needed, even if working outside of the classroom!
In the small boxes above each number we write in the factors (except 1) as we learn them, and I also have my kids color code them. For example, the number 6 would eventually have the numbers 2, 3 and 6 filled in above it and the square with the 2 would be colored red (along with any other 2 we fill in on the chart), the square with three would be colored green, and so on.
