It's time to celebrate the 100th day of school with some critical thinking STEM!
Students need to create a tool at least 8 inches long to pick up 100 Fruit Loops as quickly as possible!
Brainstorm first what types of tools could do that, but explain that with the materials students are using it is not just as simple as bending something into a hook.
Materials: I include a suggestions in the product, but you are not limited to these and you can swap some for other materials too- depending on what you have. The idea is to give materials that CAN NOT be bent into a hook easily…that is the challenge- to create some kind of hook or tweezer type device.
Have students work in team of 2-you can do 3, but the best collaboration for this happens with smaller number of students.
