Description

You are purchasing 5 different measurement challenges (27 pages), great for the hundredth day of school or any day. Notes to teacher with suggestions for use are included. The challenges are not easy and are designed to develop critical thinking skills.

1. Measuring Length--students will measure common classroom items and use multiplication to determine how long 100 of those items would be. Customary and Metric provided with different items for each. Blank worksheets provided for students and teacher to choose the items to be measured.

2. How Much is a Hundred

Based on the book How Much is a Million by David M. Schwartz, students will choose an item and estimate the measurement of 100 of that item. Then they will compare it to a larger item and create a class book.

3. Estimate and Compare 100

24 cards with various items with suggestions for games and activities. For example, partners can play "War." 100 chicken nuggets is longer than 100 raisins, so the chicken nugget card wins.

4. Match the Length

Students are given items and must draw a line to match an estimate of how long 100 of that item would be. Metric and Customary with answer keys provided.

5. Teamwork Tasks

These are 6 challenging whole-class tasks. For example, find 100 items that measure exactly 1 cm. The class works together to complete the task.

Fun and challenging activities for the 100th day of school!
