Discussion webs are graphic organizers that encourage students to engage in meaningful discussion about their reading. Like a spider, a debatable statement sits at the center of each discussion web, luring students to talk about literature.
Because webs require students to record ideas that spring from group discussions, they may also be used as a form of prewriting. Discussion webs are excellent tools for end-of-unit reviews as well.
101 Printable Discussion Webs for High School English: Reproducible Graphic Organizers for Inspiring & Recording Student Discussions about Literature includes the following: directions for using and grading discussion webs in the classroom; sample webs; blank webs; and 101 printable discussion webs about works of literature commonly taught in U.S. Language Arts courses, 9-12.
