This is one week's worth of in-depth lesson planning that transitions from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein into Adeline Yen Mah's Chinese Cinderella by week's end. These lesson plans address 10th Grade ELA Common Core standards in ways that promote critical thinking, text-to-life meaning, vocabulary development, and investigative analysis into especially characterization, author's purpose, themes, and symbolism.
Text-to-world connections are at the forefront of these truly, meaningful, educational, life-long lessons. Overall, these plans are a small taste of the complete recipe that resulted in remarkable improvement in my class throughout the year, and I encourage others to explore the ideas found in them for the sake of helping our students to become the best people possible for our future.
