Kindergarten students learn and reinforce 1:1 counting to 10 through hands on counting activities. But finding 1:1 correspondence math activities that keep students engaged isn't always easy! That's why I created this counting with blocks activity. As students are counting and stacking they end up building a "city" creation.
My students love to "play number cities" but all of my students are working on recognizing and counting with 1:1 correspondence for different amounts. For that reason I differentiated this resource so that students who are still practicing numbers 1-3, 1-5, 1-7 or 1-10 can each work on cities that will challenge them appropriately. In total you will receive 20 city cards differentiated based on the small clip art in the bottom corner of the card.
I also included custom city cards so your students can choose where the buildings will go and can write in the size of their own buildings. Kids love to be able to create their own city to build on their own or trade with a friend!
