00 – Fundamental Math Skills for Physics
Can be provided to students to work on independently or as a diagnostic. Includes basic algebra and trigonometry problems. Practice worksheets and solutions are included.
01 – Accuracy, Precision, and Errors
The concepts of accuracy, precision, and random vs. systematic errors are covered. Percen error and percent difference are quantified and further studied through the bean bag toss activity (included).
02 – Significant Digits and Rounding
Rules for significant digits and rounding are covered. Includes a basic worksheet with problem as well as a practice worksheet for determining the correct number of digits to record when making measurements (does not include key for this).
03 – Scientific Notation, Standard Units, and Unit Conversions
Covers concepts of scientific notation, SI Units, and unit conversions. Focus is on the metric system. Includes worksheet and answers.
04 – Graphing Skills
Lesson covering basic graphing rules as well as sample data sets to practice with. An activity in which students bounce a ball and compare the drop height to rebound height is also included if time permits. Great for introducing the dynamics of group work which will be required for the course.
Includes a quiz that I use at the end of the "Unit" to test how well students are doing. Please note that unlike the paid unit bunldes, this does not currently include a key.
