The purpose of this Reader’s Theater is to offer students an introduction to the film “12 Angry Men” by engaging in a simulation of the trial that the jurors deliberate in the film. Students will hear a reading of the trial, then will have an opportunity to engage in their own jury deliberation, which will take the form of a structured Socratic Seminar. Students who participated in the reader’s theater will then observe and take notes as the jury members engage in their deliberation. Afterwards, students will watch the film, “12 Angry Men,” and evaluate how their jury deliberation compares with the one depicted in the film.
