PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This is a two page exercise outlining the basic 12 bar blues form in C for melodic instruments. Students build each chord gradually, beginning with simple root-per-measure, and progress to include all four chord tones in root position. The notes of the C blues scale are included for reference and soloing practice. I originally wrote this for violin students, so the violin fingerings are included in the more complex exercises, but these developmental exercises can be used by any melodic instrument. I use this to help melodic players understand the chords and form of the 12 bar blues, and as a launching pad to help them construct their own rhythmic comping figures and riffs.
