This fun activity will allow you to sneak in some valuable multiplication and addition practice before the kiddos leave for Winter Break. This activity is great for morning work or as a fun math center. *Please download the FULL Preview to see more!*
Beginning 12 days before Christmas, students are introduced to a new "gift" from the 12 days of Christmas each day and the cost of that item. Students record the cost, and throughout the activity, find the total daily cost of each gift, as well as the total cost of the gift over the 12 days. On the 12th day, students calculate the total cost of all the gifts given over the 12 days of Christmas.
This activity is also easy to differentiate! As another option, instead of having students calculate the total cost of the gifts, you can have them calculate the total number of each item given over the 12 days.
This download includes:
- Teacher notes/suggestions
- 12 posters (1 for each "gift")
- 1 poster showing all 12 days
- 5 leveled recording sheets
- Answer keys
This item also includes options to fit the technology in your classroom. For a low tech option, I've included printables and instructions for setting this up as a file-folder activity. For a high-tech classroom, the printable "gift" posters include Augmented Reality for use with Aurasma.
