This resource gives students practice writing the names of the months. This is an excellent activity for early finishers, or for filling those extra minutes before lunch or recess.
But having students practice writing the months is not just busy work
. Your class will run more smoothly, too, when students become more fluent at writing dates!
While the directions tell the students to write each month 3 times, you can give alternative directions, if you wish.
You can also introduce this worksheet in several ways:
•Discuss the similarities and differences in the spellings (e.g., silent letters)
•Use the months to practice counting syllables
•Model spelling syllable by syllable
•Model how to commit spelling words to memory
•Talk about how the seasons
•Have students tell which month their birthdays are in
→2-page worksheet with double-lined paper
