: Are you studying the 13 Colonies in social studies? Maybe you are introducing them or needing a review. If so, your students will enjoy this fun "13 Colonies" word search!! If your students are like mine, they love these.
In this 13 Colonies themed puzzle, words are found forward, backward, up, down, and diagonal. I would consider it on the challenging side since students are looking for words in all directions and the content may be more suitable for upper elementary (see the list below).
I use word searches to introduce vocabulary, or even just give it as morning work. They are also great to glue in writing notebooks for future writing topics. Perfect for a sub, too. Have your students pick words or a particular colony from the list to use in a writing activity during social studies. Use it as a guide to have them share what they have learned about the 13 colonies. How about homework or even to trigger their memory before state testing or a unit test. Use this 13 colonies word search however you would like in your classroom.
