This packet addresses the original 13 colonies and the history and motives regarding their establishment.

Included is a pdf version of the product and a PowerPoint version. The PowerPoint version is fully editable and will also allow students to create text boxes a type directly on the Fact Sheets, if you so desire.

Map of the 13 Original Colonies

Blank Map of the 13 Original Colonies for Student Activity that includes sections where students identify in which region each colony was located

Matching Game: There are 3 cards for each colony showing the name of the colony, the region in which it was located (New England, Middle Colonies, or Southern Colonies), and the motive for establishing the colony. It is best to print the cards on card stock and laminate them if you plan to use more than once. Mix up the cards and have students match them up.
* Great for a Social Studies or History station
* You can print several sets and let small groups work on them together
* Make it a “Go Fish” card game!
* Make it an “In It to Win It!” Competition!

More on the Colonies: This involves students in research to learn more about each colony. There is a “Fact Sheet” for each colony. You may assign each student one colony or have them do them all for an extended project.

Oral Reporting with a Flare: Students report on their colony by creating a poster board of information and pictures with a hole cut out for their face. Included are four “hats” (2 for boys and 2 for girls).
