The 13 (Thirteen) Colonies - 4 critical thinking lessons and a full unit word wall to engage your students and develop their critical thinking skills + review and an assessment!
The Development of Race-Based Slavery - This lesson helps students to understand the development of race-based slavery in the colony of Jamestown, Virginia, and how this slavery was different than previous forms of slavery practiced around the world.
Journey Through the 13 Colonies - This lesson is so much fun! This is a Google Slides (PowerPoint if needed) simulation that guides students on a journey through the 13 colonies. Students visit the New England, Middle and Southern colonies, and participate in fun decisions that make their experience unique!
Mercantilism Simulation - This lesson provides a fun educational simulation for students to experience trade during the age of mercantilism. The simulation is set up so that they will see the impact of the rules created by England to limit trade, and increase profit. Students get to move around the room, trade goods, maximize their profits, and potentially smuggle!
The Atlantic Slave Trade - Through this lesson, students learn about the Atlantic Slave trade and the Middle Passage by visiting 5 stations that discuss Triangular Trade and the experience of enslaved Africans along the middle passage. Students examine primary sources, statistical data, and interactive maps.
The 13 Colonies Review and Assessment - This includes two different versions of an assessment for the 4 lessons in my “13 Colonies” unit and a review worksheet for the entire unit. Both assessments include a holistic 5-point rubric for grading.
13 Colonies Word Wall - This includes includes 40 word wall terms that specifically correlate with the 13 Colonies Unit There’s also a puzzle review and several strategies for implementation.
The files include a PDF version, a PowerPoint version, and a link to a Google Slides version for most all documents. Both the PowerPoint and the Google Slides versions are fully EDITABLE. I've also included a unit outline to help you plan!
