Need to integrate social studies into writing? Need a no-prep social studies center activity? This Thirteen Colonies resource includes 24 writing prompts specific to the economies of the colonies, people of the colonies, crops and careers of the colonies, and more. At the end, there are several blank pages for writers who may need additional space! There is also a generic rubric that can be used to score and assess the writing prompts. (Please note these were written with Georgia in mind, but are not specific!)
I hope that you enjoy this product as much as I have in my own classroom. With all of the standards that we must teach, I have a difficult time fitting in daily writing. This product is the solution to that problem and is an easy, “print-and-go” way to integrate social studies into writing instruction or vice versa. I sincerely hope that this product will make your life as a social studies teacher easier, while helping your students to think more critically about history and the important events that have shaped our nation’s history.
*Please note, if you already own the writing prompt bundle for American Indian Cultures through Colonization, this is included so no need to purchase twice!!
Featuring: New England colonies, Mid-Atlantic colonies (Middle colonies), and Southern colonies, Colonial Economies, Opportunity Costs of Colonists, Native American Interaction with Colonists, Perspectives of Different Colonists (Women, Indentured Servants, Slaves, etc.)
