SERIES OVERVIEW

Make social studies their favorite class with these 150 reproducible lessons covering the Age of Exploration to modern times. A typical lesson focuses on a topic from the U.S. history curriculum during a high-interest activity based on the concept “learning by doing.” Students enjoy an amazing variety of unique and original teaching methods to keep interest high. Among other things, class members will cross the Atlantic during The Explorers Game, play Jeopardy: Founding the Colonies, compete in contests about the presidents of the United States, and participate in a television game show involving George Washington. They will race to California during The Gold Rush Game, map major campaigns of the Civil War, and write an article for The Liberator after reading a primary source on abolition. Class members will also construct graphs on the New Deal, map electoral vote results, campaign for president, and compete to identify the locations of states, cities, and waterways. And there are more than 100 other activities to make social studies the favorite class of your students!

Use with any U.S. history textbook in grades 7-12. Each lesson usually has four or five activity sheets. Most lessons can be completed in one or two periods by individuals, small groups, or the entire class using information on the student activity sheets.

This American history curriculum contains ten Parts (1-5 and 7-11) with fifteen lessons each, and two Parts (6 and 12) with lesson quizzes and all-purpose outline maps. Easy-to-follow Teacher Instructions and answer keys are included, as well as all-purpose outline maps. Preparation time is eliminated with 150 high quality proven lessons conveniently arranged into one PDF file at your fingertips.
