The Preview for This Collection...
...contains a Full Index that, alone, is nearly 140 pages! It allows you to see a preview, and read the data points for, each and every document in this collection, before you purchase it. As you'll see, each document has been meticulously aligned to the Common Core, serialized, leveled for readability, and shows a brief list of the academic skills it addresses.
In addition, you'll also find a Readability Distribution graph in the preview to show you the overall distribution of Lexile levels for the entire collection.
Finally, at the end of the preview you'll find samples of the actual materials in this collection, so that you can get a feel for how they are designed.
Note: The PDF previewer here on TPT is often quite slow and sometimes results in a less than ideal or even blurry render of the pages. I highly suggest you download the preview to your computer and view directly from there.
All documents in this collection are in the form of separate PDFs, for which the file name of each is the activity's title. For example, a story named "My Short Story" would have a file name of "my_short_story.pdf." This makes it very easy to simply browse through the included index, and then locate the file in the collection that you want to open and use. Everything is organized alphabetically, for ease of use.
Some Important Disclaimers:
1. The diversity of the characters for the stories in this collection, in terms of both the writing and illustration, are approximately aligned to U.S. Census estimates regarding the population of The United States. That means you'll see a majority of Caucasian characters, with about 35% devoted to different racial/ethnic characteristics.
2. A very small portion of this collection (less than 5%) contains references that you may conceivably deem personally distasteful, or inappropriate, for certain ages of student (such as mild violence, rudeness, illegality, etc.). By purchasing this collection, you agree to the inclusion of this small amount of edgier material, and also that it is your job to thoroughly read all supplementary material, prior to using it with your students, to ensure it fits your personal notions of taste and appropriateness.
3. This collection is non-grade specific. That means the materials haven't been written for use by any one specific grade level only. Instead, they were created to appeal to a wider range of grade levels. I personally recommend the collection as best suited for grades 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th, as this is the sweet spot for getting the most use out of the materials. However, there are also a lot of materials that will appeal to grades 7th and 8th, and perhaps even 2nd graders, if they are advanced readers.
If you have any questions, please ask them before purchasing. I'll be happy to answer them :)
