This set of worksheets will help young students learn to identify, write, and hear every letter in the alphabet.
For each letter, you will find six worksheets. They are differentiated to accommodate the needs of students at different levels, and organized into three worksheet types:
1. A picture-based letter/sound sort worksheet (one standard version and one challenge version)
2. A picture sound identification worksheet (one standard version and one challenge version), and
3. A letter discrimination maze worksheet (one standard version and one challenge version)
Two of the three worksheet types also include lined space for students to practice writing focus letters and words.
A side note: Research indicates that many orders of letter introduction and instruction are effective. However, if your letter instruction is based upon the Houghton Mifflin Alphafriends letters' order of introduction, the standard letter/sound sorts and picture sound identification worksheets in this set will also incorporate a review of recent weeks' focus letters/sounds. The Alphafriends letters' order is as follows:
S, M, R, T, B, N, H, A, V, C, P, G, F, L, I, K, Q, D, Z, O, X, W, E, Y, J, and U
Challenge level worksheets take letter/sound instruction a step further and bring in blends, digraphs, and other fine-tuned auditory and visual discrimination skills.
P.S. I value constructive feedback and new followers!
