Description

This download is a 10-question reading quiz that can be used as a handout, a Google Form (online), or as a Quizstar Quiz (online). It covers the 16-19 reading skills bands comprehensively. However, it is also usable in your class, especially if you are teaching Night or anything about the Holocaust.

This quiz for the linked article was used in my 9th Grade "Search for Meaning" Unit. A quiz like this, created using distracters and meant to have the look and feel of an ACT test, takes several frustrating hours to write. When I was asked to work on this, I asked, "Why hasn't anyone created decent 16-19 skills band reading quizzes that go beyond being test prep and actually make sense in classes?" Now someone has.

Your students should be in the 16-19 Common Core, CCR, or ACT skills band for reading in 8th grade through 10th grade, and that works fairly well with Night.

Not only is this a good quiz to use, but you can also use it as a model to create your own. However, creating them is not a lot of fun, so I would just continue to look for more options on TpT. Seriously, had this exact quiz been available on this site, I would have told the district to buy copies for all the teachers. Sure, you could have your district pay you summer hours to write this or you could save the district $50 and buy it here. Save your district tons of money and look like the hero you are.

Also works as a pre or post test for reading. 10 questions mean easy percentages to show your continuous improvement.
