Try out 16 new Lego Challenges with a fall theme! Each challenge includes a description of the challenge, a planning space, and lines for reflection. Each challenge has multiple pages for differentiation. Bring STEM to your classroom in an innovative way! You will even integrate writing, reflective processes, and design innovation.
In my classroom, each child uses a tupperware of Legos. Each child has the same Legos to use for each challenge. The only extra materials in this kit is pumpkin seeds and marbles. Included are task cards that could be attached to plastic pencil cases to make mini STEM/STEAM bins for students to use during free time or as an early finisher task. Each bin could hold one task and the LEGOs needed to complete that task.
Some of the challenges include building a container to transport pumpkin seeds, building a tower to hold an apple, constructing a Thanksgiving table to hold weight, and so much more!
I included a mini book to be printed double-side, flip on the short side, and folded in half. Choose the pages appropriate for your students and purposes and print only those pages into your mini book. You might use this as a design journal for planning purposes instead of using the planning pages provided, or a reflection journal to incorporate even more writing into this process.
In addition, there are process posters to use when teaching students how to problem solve. We focus on Ask, Plan, Design, Create, Test, and Improve.
