When teaching poetry, there are a lot of unfamiliar words you need to stuff into your students' noggins in order to ensure their understanding. Posting these colorful and easy to understand posters around the room can help your students when they feel stumped. These posters can be used to help introduce a term, or they can simply be a friendly reminder of what all those words mean.
All you need to do is go through the posters available, choose the terms you know you will be using or teaching, and print them off! Laminate them so they will last longer. Tape them to the walls, pin them on a cork board, or use magnets to stick them to your white board. You can keep all of the terms up throughout the entire unit, or you can switch them out as your students master the vocabulary and move on to new skills.
Students will become familiar with the way their new vocabulary looks, and they will develop the language they need to correctly talk about poetry.
***Includes 167 posters of different terms***
***NOT ALL TERMS ARE SPECIFIC TO POETRY! Terms such as litotes, irony, and hyperbole (among others) can be used to teach other types of literature as well***
