1776 - Most clips are from the movie, but not all clips are available so some are from the closest version of the play. I watched this movie for the first time when I was in 5th grade. Years later, when I first tried to show it to my class I made the mistake of not re-reviewing the movie. I had forgotten that my own teacher had fast forwarded the VCR through the long parts. Warning: If you are at a conservative location, there are lines like “Damn,” and “Hell.” You may want to consider having the conversation with your students prior to showing clips that this was a forceful way to speak. What I’ve done below is point out the main ‘points’ of the songs in 1776. I have found that the students are not able to sit through the entire movie, nor do we have the time to show the entire movie. So why do I show it? The movie is still a great illustration of the Revolutionary War and Declaration of Independence.
