ALL WORKSHEETS and STEP BY STEP TEACHER DIRECTIONS to each of the lessons are included in this packet! The activities contained in this packet are a perfect complement to the 1920's lessons you already teach PLUS they allow students to practice the new Common Core Listening and Speaking Standards. The 3 parts to this lesson are:
1) Students will be assigned a key figure from the 1920's to research and role-play. Graphic Organizer to guide their research is included!
2) Students will attend a 1920's party in your classroom "speakeasy" where they will get to take on the persona of the key figure they researched. A Graphic Organizer is included.
3) Students will participate in a class discussion using a strategy called "Philosophical Chairs" . During this discussion teacher will guide the discussion using guided questions (included).
4) At the end of the 3 part lesson students will complete a 5-square graphic organizer as a pre-writing activity. Assessment: Students use pre-write to write a paragraph/essay (teacher choice) on the important changes of the 1920's using what they have learned from Parts 1-3 of the lesson and prior knowledge.
