I created this project because my high school students had a hard time understanding the societal/cultural impact of pop culture.
So I brought it back to the 1960s….
This is an interdisciplinary project that looks at the music/lyrics of the 1960s and applies that to understanding culture and gaining a broader view of the world. Focuses on understanding the politics of this historical time, analysis of lyrics (poetry/essays) of the time, and describing the effect of the music on today’s culture. Typically, students will work in groups and create a Power Point to present to the class along with the music they play.
