Take your students back to the year 1968 to experience some of the images and music from this turbulent year. This product contains colorful fact cards, links to songs, and student analysis graphic organizers that allow students to dive into some primary sources from 1968. Topics include:
Martin Luther King Jr.'s Assassination
Vietnam Protest song "The War is Over" by Phil Ochs
Robert Kennedy's Assassination
The Rascals' hit song "People Got to be Free"
The Hippie Movement
The Beatles' hit "Revolution"
The Apollo 8 Mission
This product contains 2 versions of the Hippie Movement fact card- one with a mild and brief reference to hippies' drug use and unsafe sex, and another more censored version for younger students.
Consider showing students the pilot episode of The Wonder Years as a way to culminate the activity showing events from 1968 through a Junior High student's point of view.
